ADOPT A RESIDENT PROJECT

We have nursing home residents who need to be adopted! What does this mean? Adopting a resident means you simply agree to mail seasonal greeting cards AND send a small treat once or twice a year to a nursing home senior in need. There is no physical contact with the residents. If you'd like to sign up to adopt a resident, just drop us an email at 3wishesforruby@gmail.com. We have 100s of residents waiting to be adopted. Also, share the adoption project with your friends, church groups, scouts, etc. Our goal is to get every nursing home resident in need adopted!

WE NEED USED BOOKS

Mail us your old BOOKS- any genre.  Kid Board member, Oliver, has collected over a 1000 books for seniors. Avid readers deserve quality books and with your help we can keep a fresh supply of books for seniors. It's a fantastic way to reuse your old books. CHANGE A LIFE, DONATE YOUR OLD DEVICE 

Ruby repurposes old Ipads for seniors to use to communicate with their loved ones near and far. All they need is Wifi and a little training. The Ipads open up a whole new world for them. 

DONATE PET SUPPLIES

Our Kid Board provides low income seniors with free or reduced costs pet food. We have a pet food pantry that could always use more food. We have a catch, neuter and release program and also provide senior shelter cats for adoption to nursing homes at NO cost to them. HELP LOCALLY

How can you help locally? Call your local facility and ask the activity director or social worker what the residents need most. We recommend donating common items of low value such as velcro shoes, house coats, sleeping gowns, elastic waist sweats with matching tops, updated games such as checkers, card games and 500 piece or less puzzles, updated hygiene products like small bottles of Dove shampoo and conditioner. Have an old TV? See if a specific resident might need it.
